Conservative London Assembly candidate for Greenwich & Lewisham, Charlie Davis, has launched a petition addressed to the Mayor of London to ‘Save Lewisham Tube’ and ensure the project is included as a priority in future funding negotiations with the Government by Transport for London (TfL).
Charlie previously wrote to the Transport Secretary regarding safeguarding the future of the Bakerloo line extension, who responded that ‘the decision as to whether or not progress with the project will be for the Mayor of London to take’. This came after the Labour Deputy Mayor for Transport previously failed to offer reassurances that the project would be protected by the Mayor in any future bailout negotiations with the Government.
However, in TfL’s submission for funding in the government’s comprehensive spending review on Wednesday, the transport body did not include the extension in its list of priorities. Charlie is now calling on TfL to prioritise the Bakerloo line extension to Lewisham, citing the importance of the project in improving South East London transport connectivity.
If you want to help Charlie ensure the Bakerloo Line extension is not dropped by the Mayor, sign the petition below.
We call on the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, to prioritise the extension of the Bakerloo Line to Lewisham Borough alongside other transport infrastructure projects in future funding negotiations with the Government.
